The Science Student on this portal has a personalized Dashboard that allows him to connect with all the science practicals and lessons that have been carried out with his science teacher. The student can always refer to his dashboard each time he wants to refresh his minds on the classroom and laboratory activities. The student plays Weekly Science Games displayed on his Dashboard and has chances of winning prizes. Even if he does not win a particular weekly game , his regular participation in these games increases his Student Basic Points (SBP) which is the unit of measurement of students activities on this portal. On the Student Dashboard, he takes part in Test Questions per Subject Topic treated by the teacher. He also participates in the Monthly Test. All of these tests and games builds the students SBPs . The student with the highest SBPs at the end of each month gets the Student of Month Award, which is a Cash Prize of N20,000 per science subject. That means , there will be three winners namely; Biology Student of the Month, Chemistry Student of the Month and Physics Student of the Month. The student with the highest SBP aggregate in the 2017/18 Academic Year becomes the Best Subject Science Student of the Tear and gets the Star Prize of N500,000 and fun filled-all-expense-paid vacation to Dubai. Three students will grab the Star Prizes namely, Biology Student of the Year, Chemistry Student of Year and Physics Student of the Year.
The Science Teacher on this portal has a personalized Dashboard that allows him to connect with all his students during science practicals and lessons. The Work Sheet of every science practicals he carries out with his or her students are posted to each of the students dashboards. Several parameters are used to quantify and measure the Teachers daily activities with the students. The teacher’s activities are measured by Teacher Basic Points (TBPs). Each month, three teachers with the highest TBPs would emerge, one per science subject of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Each winner gets a Cash Prize of N50,000. All science teachers on this portal who perform one science experiment or the other are paid for it by Assppaa. For every science experiment the teacher plans or proposes to do with the students, he gets his Escrow Account credited with the appropriate Cash Rewards. If the teacher eventually carries out the experiments as proposed, he gets the money in his or her Escrow Account transferred to his Wallet Account.
The Weekly Science Game is designed to make the learning of science more fun. This game is available to all students registered on the portal. The Game of the week pops up on the Student’s Dashboard every Saturdays at specified times and the game lasts for just 10 minutes. The game usually tests the students knowledge of science apparatus and materials used in the laboratories. The Speed of the student in identifying the apparatus and answering questions relating to the apparatus is measured and scored. Three fastest students with highest Student Basic Points per particular Game wins the Game and get N10,000 each. To participate and do well in this Game, students are encouraged to study the names and uses of most apparatus and materials in their school laboratories.
Cyber School Technology Solutions, CSTS, offers audio-visual support packages in strengthening the teaching and learning of core science subjects of Biology, Chemistry, Physics as well as Mathematics across Nigeria secondary schools. Each science subject has 3 DVDs containing the digital library content specifically designed for each science class of SS1, SS2 and SS3, based on WAEC and NECO syllabus. The Virtual /Digital Lab comes in 1 DVD and contains 25 experiments per science subject, giving a total of 75 experiments for all three science subjects, featured in 4D simulations and animations. Science Teachers who have challenges setting up Biology, Chemistry and Physics experiments and procedures will find the Virtual/Digital Lab DVD very useful and handy, because they can play the DVD on their own, learn the tricks before taking the students to the science laboratory for the real practical experience. Science Students who like to study ahead of others in practical science, can make use of the DVDs to understudy a few experiments at the comfort of their homes before the experiment is performed live in the school laboratory. School Mangers are encouraged to equip their science teachers and students with these DVDs.
